Bay State Savings Bank's Diane Giampa Named Community Bank Hero by Banker & Tradesman

July 7, 2014

WORCESTER, MA / July 2014 – Bay State Savings Bank announced recently that Senior Vice President/Human Resources & Marketing, Diane M. Giampa, is a 2014 Banker & Tradesman Community Bank Hero award recipient.

Community Bank Heroes are the most philanthropic of their peers in the financial services sector. Dedicated to service and reinvestment in the community, these bankers make charitable giving a priority. Community Bank Heroes go above and beyond to build goodwill with their neighbors and better their bank and community.

As a volunteer and board member for many area non-profit organizations, Ms. Giampa can certainly speak to the need in the community. “Through my experience volunteering with local agencies, I have been exposed to nearly every issue that faces our local residents, shared Ms. Giampa. “And thankfully, the Bank supports many ongoing efforts to assist our neighbors.”

“As a Human Resources professional - with the emphasis on ‘human,’ it breaks my heart to see the way some of our neighbors are forced to live – in poverty; without food; without family. I feel compelled to respond in a way that will help to improve their lives. And I’m very fortunate to work for an organization that shares the same philosophy. They allow me to use the Bank’s resources and encourage our employees to do all the positive things we do for the community. Obviously, we can’t do everything, but if everyone just does something, together we could have a really positive impact.”

Ms. Giampa was nominated by Victoria Waterman, Executive Director of Girls, Inc. in Worcester, whose board of Directors she chairs. On her nomination form, Ms. Waterman wrote that “Diane has a position of great influence within the bank and uses it to help those around her to grow and succeed and to initiate positive changes within the bank and within the community.”

Bay State Savings Bank President & CEO, Peter Alden, added that “Diane’s dedication, leadership and service to others, is an inspiration to all. Diane is widely recognized by those who know her as a person who tirelessly gives back to the community and encourages others to share her enthusiasm for making a difference. We are proud and honored to have Diane Giampa as part of the Bay State Savings Bank leadership team.”

Ms. Giampa was humbled to be named a Community Bank Hero but also said, “It’s such an honor to be named, but I think it really is ‘kudos’ to the Bank, more than just me personally.”
