Bay State Savings Bank's "Shop for a Cause" event to Benefit T&G Santa Fund
December 3, 2014
WORCESTER, MA / December 2014 – On Tuesday, December 9th from 9am–3pm, Bay State Savings Bank will host a “Shop for a Cause” event in the 3rd floor conference room of its 28 Franklin Street location. Employees will have an opportunity to do some holiday shopping without having to leave the comfort of their building, and 20% of every purchase will be donated to the T&G Santa Fund! The public is also welcome. This first time event will offer anyone who attends an opportunity to shop for boutique items like jewelry, scarves, handbags, hair accessories, and other handcrafted items, without the hassle of mall crowds.
The “Shop for a Cause” concept was brought to the Bank by Monica Hamel, Chief Creative Officer at Expressions of You. “I have conducted many “Shop for a Cause” events in the area, which have been quite successful” said Monica Hamel. “After meeting several Bay State Savings Bank employees at different networking events and learning more about their community banking philosophy, I thought they might be receptive to my idea, and I was delighted that they were. It has been a very positive partnership, and I look forward to our event on December 9th.”
“When Monica approached us to host a “Shop for a Cause” event, we were very excited,” said Diane Giampa, SVP/Human Resources & Marketing. “Typically, around this time of year we are looking for ways to raise money for the T&G Santa Fund, and often it involves “dress down days” in exchange for employee contributions. We thought we were pretty innovative with that idea, but “Shopping for a Cause” will invite much more participation, providing a convenient opportunity for people to do something they would be doing anyway, with the added bonus of supporting a local charity and a local business. It’s a win-win!”
