Bay State Savings Bank Chairman of the Board Retires; Bank Names New Directors and Corporators

WORCESTER, MA / May 2014 - Bay State Savings Bank recently announced that George F. Sullivan, Jr., Treasurer – Sullivan, Garrity & Donnelly Insurance and Chairman of the Board of Directors, has retired after 40 years of service to the Bank, and John H. McCabe, Corporate VP/Executive Advisor to CEO – Nypro and current Vice Chair of Bay State’s Board of Directors, has been elected Chairman. In addition, James Cahn, Partner - Cahn & Barron LLC; Gerald Maddaus, Jr., Attorney - Worcester; Tracey Porcaro, Vice President – Robert Powers Insurance/Worcester; Iain McKinlay, Owner – McKinlay’s Liquors/Holden; Christopher Powers, Senior Vice President – Benefit Development Group/Worcester and Michele Sloan, Owner – W.J. Hoey Tire Co./Worcester have been named Corporators.
After a bitter-sweet celebration of Mr. Sullivan’s 40-year tenure, culminating with the presentation of a bronze plaque dedicating the Bank’s Board Room to the retiring Chairman and a standing ovation, the new Chairman and Corporators were welcomed by Bay State Savings Bank President & CEO, Peter Alden and the Board of Trustees at the Bank’s Annual Meeting on May 29th.
“Corporators function as ambassadors for the Bank and are selected by the Trustees because they have strong community networks and are successful in their professions,” said Alden. “They are an excellent source for referrals and for providing feedback on the Bank’s customer service. We look forward to their contributions and advice as we continue to serve our local community.”
