Bay State Savings Bank Presents $3,000 Check to Best Buddies of Central MA
August 7, 2015
WORCESTER, MA / August 2015 – During a brief ceremony at the Franklin Street branch on August 6th, Bay State Savings Bank Officers presented a $3,000.00 check to representatives from Best Buddies of Central MA. The donation reflects the proceeds from Bay State’s 2015 Taste of Shrewsbury Street fundraising efforts. The Bank raised funds prior to this event, which took place in June, through “employee dress down days” and collecting donations for Taste of Shrewsbury Street buttons in the branches.
Best Buddies of Central MA is an organization whose mission is to create opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment and leadership development for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The International organization just recently opened an office in the Worcester area and is working with local schools and businesses to establish partnerships. Bay State Savings Bank AVP/Branch Manager (Burncoat Street) Jayme Burdett, serves on their board and was instrumental in bringing the organization to Worcester.
“When Jayme told us about his involvement with Best Buddies, his enthusiasm was contagious,” said Diane Giampa, SVP/Human Resources & Marketing for the Bank. “He was so passionate about the work they are doing with individuals in our community that we really wanted to support them in some way. We are very pleased to be able to give this check to Best Buddies through our Champions for Children initiative and hope that our contribution will be useful.” To learn more about Best Buddies, to volunteer, or to make a donation, please visit: www.bestbuddiesmassachusetts.org.
