At Bay State Savings, we recognize that our customers love to save money while maintaining their homes in the best condition possible. With a Mass Save HEAT Loan, you could qualify for a loan of up to $25,000 toward qualified energy-efficient home improvements and 0% interest financing with terms of up to 7 years. This program is only eligible for owner-occupied primary residences located in Worcester and Middlesex counties only, however, no mortgage is required.

Make sure to get a signed proposal from their official letterhead. It is recommended by Mass Save to get multiple quotes from licensed and insured contractors before choosing one. Find a participating contractor.
Your Energy Specialist will provide you with relevant forms and documents following your assessment. You will submit a completed HEAT Loan Intake Form, contractor proposal, and other documents noted on the checklists that came with your assessment packet.
Once your forms are submitted and approved, you will receive a HEAT Loan Authorization Form, which you will use to apply for your loan in one of our branches, over the phone, or online. Only owner-occupied primary residences located in Worcester and Middlesex counties are eligible for an interest-free loan up to $25,000.

Within 90 days of receiving the bank check from Bay State, your contractor should complete the improvements. You will then sign the check over to the contractor to pay for their work. Some equipment may be eligible for rebates and would not be included in the check you received from us, so you’ll want to make sure you apply for these rebates, so you don’t leave any money on the table.
